ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m Ben Archibald, an artist based in Bristol, New Hampshire, and a father of three with a deep connection to the natural world. The landscapes, wildlife, and experiences around me constantly inspire my work. While I primarily work with acrylics on canvas, I am always exploring new materials, substrates, and techniques to push the boundaries of my creative practice.

My art is deeply rooted in a lifelong fascination with nature. Since childhood, I’ve been captivated by the animals and environments around me, often integrating these elements into my artwork. For me, painting is not only a form of personal reflection but also a journey of discovery, where I experiment with new ideas and techniques to expand my artistic expression.

Some of my most recent projects have involved collaborating with communities, organizations, and corporations to create large-scale artwork made entirely of fingerprint impressions. These projects allow me to blend my love for transformative art with my passion for building connections. One of the most rewarding aspects of these projects is the opportunity to help plant seeds of pride in children. By leaving their unique fingerprint as their signature, they become part of something larger than themselves—creating a lasting sense of ownership and accomplishment. Logistically, having multiple people paint and sign the piece at the same would be a challenge. My fingerprint-based approach creatively solves this problem by allowing individuals to contribute in a manageable and meaningful way. As viewers step back from the artwork, the image becomes clearer, symbolizing how each individual’s contribution, though small on its own, plays a significant role in creating something beautiful and impactful. This method invites participants of all ages—whether they’re returning to painting after many years or discovering it for the first time—to reconnect with their creative spirit while leaving their mark on a collective masterpiece.
