ARTIST STATEMENT

We live in a world that thrives on the big picture. Our information driven life causes us to get lost in other’s opinions. We have forgotten who we are and what we believe to be our own truth. The world is grieving under the weight of all the sadness and tragedies. Being creative gives me a chance to explore my feelings. I have always been the happiest looking at life through the camera lens. Focusing on a small snapshot of the world around me instead of trying to analyze the “big” picture makes my life more manageable. Most days the “big” picture scares me and I find a sense of peace when I focus on just what is inside my camera’s small view. With my camera, I can choose to see exactly what I want to see and block out the rest. I prefer photographing the natural world. Nature is healing and it places no expectations, demands or judgements. Just pure beauty as it was intended. With my photography, I can continue to Heal Through the Lens.
