Lizzy Berbube

Artist Bio

Lizzy was born and raised in Stratford Connecticut on Long Island Sound where she credits her Mama being a purposeful teacher of an artful life in nurturing an atmosphere to be curious, appreciate nature, and to be artistically creative and expressive. Her childhood was spent experiencing and absorbing nature through play with her siblings, including a deep and daily exposure to both music and art.

As a child her Dad made wooden frames that her Mama stretched with pieces of canvas in their basement, which seconded as a makeshift kid's art studio. With sets of oil paints and brushes, she was encouraged to freely create and paint "outside the lines" throughout her childhood. Lizzy chose nature as her painting's themes then, which still holds true for her today.

Lizzy resided and raised her family on the shores of Rhode Island where she was the owner and creative designer of a Polartec outerwear clothing company until 2002, then moving to the NEK mountains of Vermont. She also worked in the healthcare field as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and Asthma Educator while living in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Since 2017, Lizzy has resided in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She has transitioned her professional life to being a seasonal landscape - perennial garden designer and hands in the dirt, happy gardener for private clients in VT, NH, CT, RI and NY. Being outdoors year-round, Lizzy has deeply reconnected to her passion for painting nature as a dedicated self-taught artist.

Lizzy's artwork medium is acrylics and oils, her muse and palettes are the ever-changing seasonal life cycles of the woods, mountains, shorelines and beaches of New England.
