Painting inspires and challenges me. More than raw talent, I believe persistence and perseverance are crucial to a well crafted work. I don’t paint happy little trees in four or five brushstrokes. Each canvas is a labor of love - a challenge that, through the accumulation of experience, observation, and persistence I somehow resolve. Sometimes magic strikes and my brush seems to be carried along by itself and the work is easy, but those moments are rare. Most times I slog through hours of trial and mostly error before I find a satisfactory resolution to a painting “problem “. For these paintings in Glimpse Gallery's December 2024 show, the serendipitous meeting of a now dear friend decades ago brought us to this collaboration of his fine photography and my diligent brushwork. I hope you enjoy these works as much as I’ve enjoyed the collaboration with my dear and talented friend Michael McCormack. (Michael McCormack)
