SAMUEL HANCHETT
ARTIST STATEMENT
Samuel Burbury Hanchett, born in 1976 in Long Island/New York, studied art at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania/USA and Syracuse University in Florence/Italy.
"I think much of this existence is a mystery and many artists delve into that unknown to capture that and bring it to our physical reality. Much of it actually doesn't make sense here. Much of it is chaos which gets confined in an orderly fashion of varying degrees. "Chaos" is just one word to describe the state of this being and this unknown. The stuff that is the mystery and has no words or meaning; the magic, whether dark or light, is what many artists grab and attempt to show us, knowing and not knowing. They're not trying to give us any answer. They're just showing us a glimpse of that wonder."
